Mais Il Est Ou Le Soleil

In January 1998 Laurence Everard founded “Mais il est où le soleil?” together with fashion designer Val Pollet. “I wanted to create a product and I wanted it to be manufactured in India, especially in Rajasthan! This country still employs embroidery and pattern techniques that are no longer used in Europe. The enthusiastic and warm welcome of a local manufacturer finally convinced us that it was a great idea. That’s how the story started!”

Val wanted to design a line between accessory and clothing. She felt that customers wanted more than just a scarf. “I spent as much time thinking about the launch of our own ready-to-wear brand as for the launch of our scarf brand – I followed my intuition; and “Mais il est où le soleil?” was born!

“We offer garments for special events that can also be worn afterwards. They’re not easy to find. We define our clients by their attitude rather than by their relationship to a fashion or a generation.”
